Overview
I led the "Home Workout" app's development, targeting the home exercise trend. We aimed to offer an engaging alternative to gyms, shifting attention to our app and tapping into the home fitness market. Balancing swift development with thorough testing, we discovered the app's broad appeal, particularly to seniors. As Senior UX Designer, I guided the project from the start, focusing on user-centered design through Design Thinking and Double Diamond methodologies. Initial user feedback led to significant enhancements, making the app more senior-friendly. I also assisted UI designers in creating a consistent design system and played a key role in communication and implementing Scrum, ensuring an efficient, collaborative process.
Competitive Audit Home workout
Conducting a competitive audit was a key task I undertook at the beginning of the „Home Workout“ app‘s design process. This essential step enabled me to identify market opportunities for innovation, understand user expectations, and shape the app‘s unique value proposition. By analyzing our competitors, I was able to inform our strategic and pricing decisions, avoiding common pitfalls while drawing inspiration for new ideas. This foundational work was vital to ensuring that „Home Workout“ launched with a distinct competitive advantage in the market.
Empathize: Understanding User Needs
The project initiated with a comprehensive user research phase. Alongside our UX researcher, I engaged in surveys, interviews, and market trend analysis to understand the transition from gym to home workouts. Our objective was to empathize with potential users, gaining insights into their workout preferences, challenges, and what elements could make home workouts attractive. This foundational understanding was critical for tailoring our app to meet the users‘ needs effectively.
Define: Identifying the Challenge
Our research led us to a crucial question: How can home workouts rival the appeal and ease of gym sessions? This challenge shaped our design focus, steering us towards a user-friendly solution that directly addressed the issues surfaced in the empathize phase. My intent was to transform home workouts into a compelling choice for gym enthusiasts.
Ideate: Sparking Innovation Solutions
With a solid grasp of user needs and the defined problem, me and our design team conducted brainstorming sessions to generate a range of creative solutions. I assessed these ideas for feasibility and impact, selecting the most promising concepts that matched our user research findings and project goals
Prototype: Crafting the Vision
I spearheaded the development of low-fidelity prototypes to bring our ideas to life, focusing on user flow and basic functionality. By testing these prototypes with users and gathering feedback on usability and overall experience, we were able to refine our concepts effectively.
Test: Refining the Solution
In the pivotal testing stage of the Home Workout app, I, as Lead UX Designer, directed our focus on refining high-fidelity prototypes based on user feedback. This phase was intense, filled with dramatic insights and crucial adjustments. My role was central in interpreting feedback and orchestrating the transformation of our app into a more intuitive and engaging experience, ensuring it not only met but exceeded user expectations.
